For the Guys: 20 Things You Should Know About Her

Hello there, how’s the month going? Like a dream, the month is slowly drawing to an end and so is the year. This post is dedicated to the guys and to everyone in a relationship. In short and concise terms, it gives direct insight that will help you understand the lady in your life and how to handle her. Happy reading!

1. Just like the mirror, what you give her is what you get in return. Show her love, she’ll reciprocate; play her, you get played.
2. She might seem hard, aggressive and difficult outwardly, but she needs love, support, encouragement and kindness to tame her.
3. Every good woman longs for a responsible man who will make her feel secure and allay her fears.
4. Give her security and she will pick up a gun to defend you.
5. Every girl deserves a guy who takes her out on a date, and does not touch her anywhere but her heart.
6. Don struggle; when she sees a future with you, she won't care about your past; so, stay you.
7. The best way to bring out her beauty is to give her genuine love and it’ll pop out like fine wine.
8. It's normal for couples to have disagreements but how you handle them shows her how mature you are when misunderstanding arise.

9. Once you make her lose your trust in a relationship, there are ways to get it back.  It just requires patience, time and a true desire to get it back
10. The easiest way to crush trust in your relationship is to compare her with your ex. She is her, and your ex is your ex.
11. Policing a woman is a waste of time; whatever she wants to do, she will do - with or without you.
12. She won't cheat on you not because she is SCARED of you, but because she RESPECTS you and desires to honour your relationship
13. Every woman is a queen. Assume your role as a king and you will be shocked where your queen will emerge from.
14. You have to go through the worst to get the best. Don't expect her to change overnight, wounds don't get healed instantaneously.
15. If you don't see yourself fulfilling purpose with her, she is somebody else's woman.
16. Every shoe comes in pairs. Discover your right co-pair and you’ll sleep on the "softest" pillow ever.
17. Before you met her, she had dreams and aspirations like "sister to sister"; don't kill it selfishly because you are the driver of the relationship. Instead, provide a premise to help her grow her aspirations.
18. Every mature woman needs you to be RESPONSIBLE and not just WEALTHY.
19. Your dress sense can raise a woman’s ego higher than her shoulders.
20. Apply these nuggets and tendencies are she'll love you far better than you ever imagined.

TWISTS AND TURNS - Episode 2

Episode 2

Iye watched Bukky with interest as she scooped the ice cream as if her life depended on it. She dropped the novel in her hand, picked the pillow beside her and curled herself up on the bed in the most suitable position that would enable her listen to the lamentations that would soon follow the aggressive ice cream licker.
"You know, I can't still believe he had the heart to leave me. It’s my fault of course; I’m always the fool who gives keep giving men as many chances to break my heart.", said Bukky as she dropped the plate of ice cream and furrowed her brows in concentration.
"Iye look at me now, I am beautiful and smart; I’m a natural for any musical instrument. I’m sound academically, even though I don't have the nerdy look. Is it wrong for me to want a guy that is not only interested in all the goodies I come with, but is also interested in wanting me as a person? Is it wrong for him to be a real gentleman and respect my standards and preferences? I don’t get it! Why is it that every guy I date can’t wait to fly into bed with me all in the name of love? Iye, this is the fourth serious relationship that is crashing; it’s beginning to look like I need deliverance or something. Maybe God will understand if I bend the rules a bit." Her face was twisted in agony as she expressed her bitterness.

Iye eyed her friend in pity as she thought about what she said. It’s just sooo unfortunate that good men are very scarce these days; men that would respect sexual purity in a relationship. “Why in the world would a man insist on making love to a lady who respects her chastity? Where are the days where virgins are respected and sought after like a priced jewel?”, she thought to herself. God forbid that she advice her friend to give in. There’s nothing cool about giving into sex simply because you’re pressured by a so-called boyfriend except for a truck load of regrets when the relationship eventually gets sour. Without saying a word to her friend, she turned and glanced with nostalgia at the beautiful picture on the wall. It was her six year old daughter Mimi smiling happily at the camera, looking beautiful and happy as always. Sadly, as happy as she looked in the picture, she had recently been taken away forcefully without her mother’s consent by her biological father and his people amidst all kinds of threats if Iye tried anything funny. Mimi, her precious little princess, was proof of what one foolish unplanned action and one wrong decision could result in...

"Iye I am not comfortable seeing you hang around that boy, he is not good for you. I didn't train you to be that way", her mum scolded in her usual manner. But of course Iye waved off such words like the humming of a nasty mosquito whispering in her ears, after all, she was not doing anything bad.
"Mum please, I am not a kid anymore. Dave is just a friend. Stop listening to those jobless neighbours around that don't have any other business other than gossiping about me and..."
"Shut up my friend”, her mother scolded even more, adding a slap on Iye’s cheek to further drive home the point which Iye narrowly dodged. “Instead of you to be praying that your admission comes through you are busy following boys all around the area abi? That useless boy who can barely feed himself, who doesn’t know what he wants in life…Just be careful o! You know how your father is, if you come home carrying another man's bastard, just forget about anything spelt SCHOOL; that is if you survive what he will do to you.
"God forbid! Haba mummy, Dave is just my friend. We don't do such things and in fact I would never give him room to try such. I am not a bad girl now. It’s just that he’s funny and very sweet. He says encourages me and helps me in many ways and..."
“If I hear one more word from you…”, her mother interjected grabbing one of Iye’s ear and winding it with all her might while Iye winced in pain as she struggled to free herself from her mother’s grip. "That is how it usually starts and the next thing follows is a big belly."
"Oooooh! Mummy naaaaa, is that why you want to remove my ears?”
"You see that stupid grin on your face, that adoration in your eyes when you were talking about him? That is how it begins and before you know it, you won't just be opening your teeth smiling, you will be opening your legs too and by then, it would be too late. I’m not itching to be a grandma yet." Her mother said with all the seriousness she could muster.
"Ahn! Ahn! Mummy, is that a curse or what? I reject it o. Andy wouldn't try such a thing; I trust him. Besides, he respects me and knows I’m not the type", she said in self defense.
"Oh, really! Well, since you have refused to be reasonable, let's do it this way. If you know I am your mother that carries you for nine months, and if you know you sucked this breast…”, she said beating her chest, “…I don't want you to see that boy again; not in my house or anywhere else. Is that clear? I won't stand here and watch you mess your life up. You are my only daughter for heaven's sake" she lamented.
"Mum that is not fair, it’s just not fair. Is it a crime to have a friend? Please mummy", she pleaded.
"Capital NO! I hate to see you sad but I have a bad feeling about this guy. There will be many more guys in future but not this one please and not now. Promise me you won't see him again..."

Iye grudgingly promised to do as her mum said, a promised she didn’t to intend to keep, which eventually led to a series of events which she didn’t want to remember. That line of thought would have to wait until a later date because Bukky needs her help now.

“Iye!!! You’re not saying anything. Or am I talking to myself?”
Gathering herself out of her walk down memory lane, Iye sighed deeply and looked into her friend’s pretty face. "Bukky, I know what bending the rules means and believe me sweety, it’s not a road you wanna walk through. You and I know the repercussions for bending the rules is even more painful in the long run than the pain of doing what everyone else feels has become old fashioned. The fact that Osas, or whatever his name is, said its over does not mean it is over with your life. You have to pick up the pieces of your broken heart and move on."

Bukky paced the length and breadth of the room like someone whose family member was in the labour room.
"That is exactly what I do not want to hear. Where has holding on to standards and principles taken me? I’ll tell you where; it has taken me through three break ups and if care is not taken, a fourth one is on the way. It’s not like it’s officially over, but it’s almost as good as things being over between Osas and I. You know I love him very much and I don't want to lose him. He is everything I desire in a man and he is even talking about marrying me. But recently, he gave me a condition and I guess you know what it is but my question is, will doing it be as bad as they always tell us? Don't you think there’s no harm in doing it, after all we love each other and will be getting married anyways? And..."
"Bukky”, Iye said placing a hand on Bukky’s shoulder to get her to stand still, “I understand how you feel but sweetheart, do you really think it’s okay to dump all you stand for just to keep a man? No matter what I say, you know the right thing to do and the choice is yours to make. I can’t make a decision for you, you have to think about it yourself." She picked her novel and continued reading.

TWISTS AND TURNS - Episode 1

Episode 1

Bukky had the brightest smile as she waited in anticipation for her beau. She could not believe her luck with him. He was everything any young lady could ever desire in her man. His cool height gave him a domineering look such that you couldn't miss him whenever he steps in to a room. He had a sweet aura that turned all heads smiling in his direction. His athletic body always snugged up with really cool shirts; he should have been a model if he was not so into his career as a presenter.

" Hey babes hurry up, he is here", her roommate Tamuno said excitedly.
" Okay I’m done, do I look okay, do you think he will love my dress?" she asked worriedly.
" Oh come on, he will be blown away. You look awesome dear. I totally wish he chose me, I would give anything to keep such a man. You are so lucky girl." Tamuno said meaning every word. Bukky would have given her an answer if he had not pressed the horn of his car again.
" See you later."
" Yeah, have fun dear" her roommate said in a loud voice as Bukky ran out to meet him.
Bukky loved the fact that that smile he had on his face was meant for her. This was not their first date but she had a feeling that this date was special.

"Oh my God!" Osas muttered under his breath. He couldn't believe she was his girl friend. She had the perfect shape and the cutest smile that could make a guy go crazy. She had always succeeded in evoking strong desires in him making him fantasise of what they could do together but she still insisted on saving it till they marry. He was running out of patience. He was definitely crazy about her. Why wouldn’t he be? She’s smart, very pretty with curves in all the right places but the highest form of affection she usually gives him is a hug. Who does that? He is a full grown man and He has NEEDS he needs his woman to meet. He was ready to take care of her if she would just be a good girl –his good girl - and He couldn't imagine another man touching her.

Bukky gave him a peck on the cheek before she stepped into the car. He waved at her roommate Tamuno who was smiling sheepishly at him. She would have to be careful with Osas, she was not ready to lose her man yet.
" You look gorgeous baby. I could sit all day staring at you without getting tired but actually I wouldn't mind doing other things with you", he said with a sly grin.
" Ooooooh baby! I thought we’ve discussed this before. Let's not rush into this please. You know I love you so much", she replied rubbing his arm soothingly. Osas groaned in response, she didn't know what her seemingly innocent touches did to him. He glanced at her briefly, thinking to himself “she is so tender and naïve; she makes it so hard for me to keep off.”
He concentrated on the road ahead and tried to organise his plans in his head. Maybe he was not convincing enough, maybe a little shopping would set the mood…
"Baby let's go shopping", he said.
" Really? I thought you said..."
"Oh forget what I said, I love this dress on you and I want my baby looking good for me. So why don't we go get you some new outfits, buy lunch and head to my place. What do you think."
" Yay!!! I think it’s a really cool plan but baby… you don't have to do this if it is not convenient, I’m not complaining okay, I just..."
"Can you let me worry about my pocket please! I want the woman I love to have the best. I can do anything just to make you happy. Don't you know that yet?", he replied in a soft tone that melted her heart…

Bukky was so happy with her new clothes and she smiled to herself once again recalling the spark in his eyes as she came out testing the dresses. It was already evening by the time they got to his house. She left her stuff in the car so they wouldn't have to pack it back when he would be taking her back home.
She felt like a fairy tale princess… He was so romantic, treating her like a lady and he had the sweetest words for her. What more could she ask for?
They talked some more and laughed while taking their meal. She was in a day dream where he was her husband and she was relaxing in his arms as he placed gentle kisses on her face, telling her how much she meant to him and how she makes him go crazy and...
"Oh Bukky I love you." He said deepening the kiss that jerked her out of her dream and back to reality.
"Osas stop!" She pushed him breathlessly.
She had actually thought it was a fantasy, she felt she was still day dreaming about him being her husband and making her feel like the only woman on earth but when he called her name she realised they were actually making out.
She noticed the fury in his eyes…" Oh baby please I’m sorry, I didn't mean to push you away. I didn't know we were..."
"Just save your breath ok." He turned his back towards her, scratching his head in frustration. He would have taken her in one stroke but he was not a rapist; a lot of ladies would do anything to be in her shoes and here was Bukky, with curves that could convert a monk, yet she would not let him touch her. They loved each other quite alright but he was not sure their relationship could continue like this anymore. It took all the self control he had for him not to force her. He was frustrated and really pissed off this time.
"Baby why are you doing this to me huh! Why?", he asked.
"I’m sorry, I know it’s not easy for you but please, I just can’t do this. Baby, please let's do this right I beg you. Just be patient with me."
"Bukky, I am running out of patience, and if you claim to love me and yet you can't let me touch you, then I think we are over."
"What! Just like that?", said Bukky as she felt a multitude of emotions flow through her like a thousand knives eventually causing tear drops to leak out of her eyes…

While You Wait… (Pt 1)

Source: shadowness.com

Today, I’ll love to say a very big thank you to all faithful readers of this blog. Your words, comments, likes, shares, and retweets on the blog, the facebook pages and twitter encourage me to keep up the good work. This post is dedicated to everyone who’s presently single…

Singleness is a gift; a time for preparation for whatever kind of future you desire. A lot of people waste this period agonizing over their singleness, wishing they were married, praying God to send them a spouse (which is not bad in itself) and dating everyone that comes their way (the good, the bad and the jaga-jaga), forgetting that they need to build and prepare themselves for the future. To reap a good marriage tomorrow, there are seeds you must sow now. The greatest investment you can make for your future is to INVEST IN YOURSELF. Failure to invest in your personal development is to become a thorn in your spouse’s flesh, a toxic parent and a toxic pollutant to what ought to be a blissful marriage. The blissful marriage you desire and seek is not just about finding the right person, it actually STARTS WITH YOU. Here are a few things you need to do while you wait that will not only make you a better person but sow seeds that will make you reap a blissful marriage.

#1 – Master Self Control
When we hear “self control”, the first thing that usually drops into our hearts is control over sexual desires and emotions but it actually goes beyond that. Self control is about having the ability and power to choose the right response in any situation instead of acting based on impulses and emotions (definition mine). Self control includes discipline in spending time and money (yes, both of them are currencies we need to learn to manage), speaking, eating (watching your weight) etc. In case you didn’t know, self control is one of the fruits of the Holy Spirit; it is not cultivated by will power (that’s why we keep making decision or resolutions without keeping them) but by the help of the Holy Spirit. So, go to God in prayers concerning everywhere you need self control and he will supply the grace you need.

#2 – Master Trust
Trust is a choice to trust someone, not just because they’re trust worthy but because you understand that it’s a necessary ingredient for the success and enjoyment of any relationship. Yes, they’re many possibilities of what could happen but the truth is that “Except the Lord watches, they labour in vein that watch” (Psalm 127:1). Learning to commit your fears and your spouse to God in prayers to preserve him from wrong influences/impulses and seductive traps, empower him to do the right thing and overcome temptations frees you to give trust and have peace of mind instead of becoming a police/detective unto your spouse. In other words, deal with your trust issues now. Read more about trust issues here and here.

#3 – Forgiveness
Love and forgiveness are two sides of a coin. If you still find it hard to forgive, if you still keep malice and go without talking to those who hurt you for days, if you still do tit-for-tat, you need to deal with it now otherwise it will affect your marriage in future cuz there will always be a need to forgive. Go to God in prayers, ask him to remove the unforgiving heart within you and give you the grace to always forgive just as he always forgives you.

#4 – Doing Things that Aren’t Convenient
Yea, we all prefer to do things that please us and do them when it suits us which is good in its own way but will turn around to sabotage your marriage in future. Love requires sacrifice and sacrifice is not usually convenient. Learning to do things that are not convenient and doing things when it’s not convenient will build your muscles for marriage which requires sacrifice and compromise to succeed.

#5 – How to Be Angry and Not Sin
Ephesians 4:26 says “Be angry, and do not sin: do not let the sun go down on your anger.” It’s okay to get angry; actually anger is a natural emotion that occurs in response to things that provoke us. But what you do or say in response to it can destroy things if not handled properly. Do everything it takes now to learn how to control your anger instead of letting it control you cuz it is controllable. There’s nothing being a “hot tempered” person will give you except a rocky bitter marriage. “Hot tempered” is actually another word for someone who is immature with regards to anger management.

#6 – How to Abide in Joy and Peace
It is your responsibility to abide in joy and peace. Expecting your spouse to become the source of your joy, happiness and peace is to set yourself up for disappointment. This is unfair because no human being alive has the ability to keep you in perpetual peace and joy; only God has that ability. Abiding in joy and peace means learning to remain joyful and peaceful in the face of things that provoke you to feel otherwise. Your life will eventually become more stressful in future so you need to learn this now.

#7 – Understand Yourself
Find out your temperament, the things that trigger a mood swing in you and provoke you to anger, your love language, your strengths and weaknesses. Understand the things you can and cannot tolerate as a person and in a relationship, understand your sex drive and hot buttons; understand who you are, where you’re going to and the kind of future you want for yourself.

# 8– Understand the Opposite Sex
Understanding the opposite sex, why they act the way they do and their unique behaviours, preferences as well as what makes them tick is also important. Some of this knowledge you can get from casual male friends, from asking your brothers or cousins the right questions and asking older people the right questions; the rest of this you can get from reading books and watching relevant video/audio clips. This understanding will help you and prevent you from getting confused at the “strange displays’ of your future spouse so you don’t begin to think he has a “demon’ or something.

To be continued….

There are still more tips left to go. The sequel to this post comes up on Friday. Do your single friends and siblings a favour by sharing this post with them. Keep a date with us.

P:S – Tomorrow, Twists and Turns, (an interesting episodic fiction story) commences. It will run regularly and be featured here every Tuesday. #anticipate
