JUST RIGHT

NO MORE!!!
Written by - Mimi Okwara

Dear Sister,
This isn't just about a scribbler and her ink. I know it, because I've been there. I tried so much to jump the basics and start "ranting" about sister to sister stuffs, but I feel a need for a restructuring before we can move on.

Those repetitive thoughts... those guilt feelings... you see yourself not amounting to anything....Yea! Maybe you've heard those frustrating words spoken to you by even the ones you love, over and over again.

I know the devil for one thing; He paints a sordid future using our past lives and tries to make us to dwell there. He tries to make you envision nothing but you materializing into whatever mistakes you have made in the past. He puts before you the generational influence of what those that have been before you have done and tries to make you fit into the same line of mistakes, curses, diseases, misfortunes, struggles, etc.

I know it. I've been there. You fear a repetition of history. You're afraid of the future. The thought sends aches all over your body. You don't see things working out in your spiritual life, career, marriage, etc. He tells you that all you will amount to will be nothing more than what has been obtainable.

The devil usually tries to create a translational trend...a demonic jinx. It sounds like this:
-You aborted so you will never have children.
-You're disvirgined so your innocence and value is stolen too.
- Your have had many years of sexual perversion so you are filthy and impure and can never be looked upon by God.
-You lead a reckless life so you're forever doomed and far from remedy. You will live forever hunted by the shadows of the past.
- Your womb got damaged so that is it... You're done for.
And bla bla.... But that's not You! That's not who you are. All those things are not obtainable in Christ. It is not in the plan, one bit. You're a brand new person in Christ. You're not who you were anymore. A new life has begun.  So all those things don't have a stake in God's will for you.

You may feel unlovable but God's love is encompassing! Whatever stopped others, has no power over you; it ends with you! God is not dead, so no one, not even the devil can change what's in God's Will. The veto power of the finished work of Christ has broken the trend...the jinx. Refuse to run through with what's been...

Heeeeyyyyy! You can change lanes right now. The power of the new life detaches the baton already handed on to you. Run with a new cause! Run on a different track. You have a new birth.

A divide sets in. That love that has been since the world began drew salvation's plan. Grace got lower to your reach. God orchestrated a gulf between you and the past at Calvary.

You're Unheld!

"... By remembering his sacred promise to Abraham. He freed us from our enemies (the devil and our pasts); granting us the privilege of serving God fearlessly. Making us holy and acceptable, to stand in his Presence Forever!"
Luke 1: 72-75.

"The Curse Is Broken"

The enemy is trying to make you believe
That your past is you
That the mistakes you made from yesterday
Is all that you would ever be
They told me that I would never amount to anything
Nobody in my family ever was
They said you’re just like your momma
Just like your daddy
Who never amounted to anything
But that’s not me, that’s not who I am
God gave me a promise, on that I stand

The curse is broken
My past can’t hold me
I’m more than a conqueror
That’s what he told me
The curse is broken
My body’s healed
The devil’s a liar
It’s in his will

The mistake, is not who I am
The lies they told, is not who I am
My past is not who I am
The curse is broken in my life
The abortion is not who I am
The misfortune is not who I am
The disease is not who I am
The curse is broken in my life
I’m healed, that’s who I am
I’m free, that’s who I am
I’m a conqueror, that’s who I am
The curse is broken in my life
I’m blessed, I’m delivered, I’m redeemed
The curse is broken in my life.

Blessings!

Before You Risk It

Hello there, it's another beautiful week in the beautiful month of June. May the week bring fresh opportunities to us all in Jesus name.

Our theme for the month is still RISK IT and today, I'll be talking about things we need to consider before taking a new step. Although this is our month of taking bold and new steps, we have to be careful not to do so blindly or foolishly. Last week's post - RISK IT - was meant to charge us up; this weeks post is meant to show you HOW TO TAKE THE NECCESSARY RISKS / LEAPS OF FAITH. So, before you take that leap, here are some few things you need to consider and put in place to ensure you're in a win-win situation.

#1 - Find out the word of God concerning the step you're about to take
Hehehehehehe. Bet you didn't see that one coming. It's important you find out the counsel of God concerning what you're about to do via his word. First of all, is what you're about to do permitted by God's word? God is only committed to back up what is permitted in his word. So, diving into what is not in line with God's word leaves you at the mercy of the elements of the world which means you may incur heavy losses you did not envisage. If you're in doubt concerning if you're about to do is permitted by God's word, speak with your pastor or any reputable minister of God / counsellor.

#2. Be sure that it's God's will for you
Yes dear. It may be permitted by God's word and may not be a bad thing, but it may not be God's will for you. The fact that someone else is doing that business or chasing that career and prospering in it doesn't mean you will achieve the same results. The fact that it is in vogue does not mean it is for you either. Before you take that new step, you need to be sure that it's part of God's plan / purpose for you. Romans 8:14 says "For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God". If you must take a leap, take it in line with God's purpose / will for your life. Not sure what God's will for your life is? Pray about it. Ask a spiritually mature person like your pastor to pray with you on it. Even if there is no direct word from God about it, his peace in your heart will be the umpire to let you know if you should take that step or not.

#3. Get the necessary information
Doing this is quite crucial otherwise you'll end up starting what you can't finish or you'll perish for a lack of knowledge (see Hosea 4:6). Use the Internet if it's helpful. Seek out individuals who are experienced in what you're about to do and are willing to answer your questions. No one gets to a place they've never been to before without asking for directions or using a map. Or why do you think Proverbs 4:7 says Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding???

#4. Do all that needs to be done
Part of the things that you may need to do are: planning, starting, executing your plans, staying focused, remaining consistent till the end. That's the only way you'll achieve results and arrive to the expected end.

#5. Make sure you're operating by faith in God, not in your strengths or activities
Zechariah 4:6 says "... Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts." Your success in anything is not dependent on your personal gra gra. It's dependent on the mercy of God and on the Holy Spirit. It's good to make good plans and take the right step, but let your faith not be in what you've done but in the fact that God is able to perfect your efforts.

#6. Pray!!!
Yea, if you must secure God's intervention in that new step you're taking, you can exclude prayer. Pray before you take that leap. Pray after you've done your part and your expecting a favourable outcome. Psalms 37:5 says "Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass." Prayerfully commit your ways unto God with each step you take. Look for the word of God that applies to your situation and confess it daily. Take things a step further by sowing a seed unto God concerning that new leap. Do everything necessary to secure God's help.

Voila!!! Those are the things you need to put in place before you take that leap of faith. No matter what happens, don't lose your courage or boldness. Both things are necessary for taking that leap of faith.

One more thing - don't be stingy: share this post with someone around you.

RISK IT

Hello Everyone,
You're welcome to the month of my birth - the best month of the year (according to me). It's my sincere prayer that you and I will experience God's touch in a special way alongside mighty breakthroughs this month in Jesus name. As I thought about the month, these two words dropped in my heart - RISK IT. Gladly, they will form our central theme for the month. I trust God to empower us all to take the necessary risks that will catapult us into the goodies he has for us.

WHY RISK IT
Most of us do not like the word "risk". We don't like doing anything that involves a risk because it involves uncertainty - It's possible to win or lose. But if we stay on the sidelines of life avoiding taking risks, then how do we hope to get the goodies of life?

Everything about life involves a level of risk. We wake up each morning and board the bus to work or school without any guarantees for safety, yet we go out hoping for the best. Getting into business is a risk. Getting into a relationship or getting married equally involves risk. Yet, these are steps we have to take at some point in life.

Yes, there are so many what ifs. So many possibilities like "What if I do the business and I don't make any profit?" "What if we get married and he cheats on me tomorrow?" "Am I sure I can handle this position given to me?" "What if I start that fellowship or group and nobody joins?" Bla, bla, bla... Even though these possibilities are real, they are only one side of the coin. What if you take that step and you actually succeed? Have you thought about it???

IT'S TIME

To you reading this, just as God said in Deuteronomy 1:6-7 he says to you
“... ‘You have stayed long enough at this mountain. Break camp and move on...." You have stayed long enough around your comfort zone. It's time to take the risks that will lead you into fulfilled promises. It's time to take that leap, that bold step. Don't be afraid of the risks involved. God is working behind the scenes ensuring that you don't miss it. Open your eyes. Take that risk. And by the end of the month, we will all have testimonies to share.

Get ready.

P.S - A bundle of surprises await y'all on the blog this June. There will be new columns, new writers, give aways and lots more. Keep your fingers crossed and your eyes glued to the blog. Xoxo
