Five Things Her Make up Says About Her

Yes ooo. I bet you didn't realise that the way a lady does her make up says something about her? Well, this post is set to open ya eyes *wink*. Read it and see how true it is and  which applies to you.

1. Bold make up

If she's fond of wearing bold make up, especially bold red lips (or any other bold lip colour) , it shows that she's bold, fearless and not afraid to be herself. She also doesn't care about people's opinions about her.

2. Light make up

If she's fond of wearing light make up, it shows that she's a conservative and reserved person who likes to look good but doesn't like drawing too much attention to herself.

3. No make up
A lady who hardly uses make up is one of two things. It's either she belongs to a religious sect / church which does not allow make up or she doesn't know how to make up. Simple! This may also mean that she never 'tear eye' with regards to global trends. No offense meant. It's her face and she has a right to do whatever she likes with it.

4. Trendy make up

A lady who does trendy make up (rave of the moment make up) is one who keeps up with trends, is up to date and doesn't want to be counted as backward in any way. So, if purple lipstick is the rave of the moment, whether or not if fits her, you'll find her rocking it.

5. Different make up styles (bold, light and no make up). A lady who uses different make up styles is a lady whose different moods reflects in / guides what she does. This doesn't apply to her make up alone but to every other areas of her life.

Interesting isn't it? It's amazing to know that the way a lady does her make up says a lot about her. Do you agree with it? Do you see your self in any of these categories? Leave your comments. Plus, share with someone around you and see what they think about it.

Have a splendid week.

Surviving with a Difficult Boss

This post is dedicated to my working women and everyone who has to deal with a difficult boss...

There are some situations we wish we could change but we can't. There are some we've even prayed would change but they still remain the same. If you're presently working with a boss who's difficult, this post is for you. I hope you find it helpful.

1. Remember why you're there - for work (the money) and not for friendship or a pampering. Focus on doing your job.

2. Understand that his/her nasty disposition may be a result of his/her temperament and upbringing. Both things programme people to behave the way they do.

3. Understand what satisfies / pleases your boss and do it. This will save you a whole lot of trouble. It's because some people understood how to handle bitter leaf, despite its bitterness, that it can be used to make soup today.

4. Don't take it personal (very important if you must maintain your sanity). Many of the terrible things your boss does is not because of you or anything you did. It's simply his / her way of handling things.

5. Understand that stressful situations, especially ones that result to more spending, are not easy to handle and may bring about more nasty behaviours from your boss.

5. When issues arise, focus more on tendering your apology than explaining why it happens except you're called upon to explain. Most difficult bosses HATE it when you try to give unsolicited explanation when they're scolding you about something.

6. Go the extra mile... this is very important. Update your knowledge and skills daily so as to be versatile. Nothing pacifies any boss as this. You no longer seem like a liability, a necessary evil, a recurrent expenditure... You become a valuable asset and people don't lay off assets just like that.

7. Develop a way to diffuse the bad blood that arises when there's tension at work triggered by your boss. I find that listening to good songs on my phone via an earpiece helps a lot. Find what works for you.

8. Don't let the happenings truncate your productivity. Don't expect encouragement or nice words (since you know he/she doesn't give them easily). Just do everything as unto the Lord and do it with excellence. Whatever happens, your work of excellence will speak for you eventually.

9. Take it as a training experience on how to handle difficult people. The situation will end up working for your good if you put on this attitude.

Nothing lasts forever. While you have to remain there, do your best survive. Fighting with your boss is a big no no. If you feel you can't survive there, take a bow and look for somewhere else. The truth is that even with the kindest of bosses, there are still days when he/she acts in unpleasant ways. Just like there is no perfect person, there is no perfect boss.

Stay focused! Stay strong!

5 Gifts You Need to Give to Yourself All through 2015

I know the euphoria of the newyear has worn off by now. Some people have even forgotten the theme of the year and all the prophecies that were declared. The year is still young; you may have to revisit where you wrote all those declarations that were made at crossover service and use them to reposition yourself for the year. Anyways, since we’re now in the second half of the year, today I’ll like to open your eyes to a few gifts you need to give yourself for the remaining part of the year. Most of us are good at giving gifts to those we love - forgetting that the bible says love your neighbor as you love yourself –which you need to give gifts to yourself every now and then. So, without much ado, here they are:

Be comfortable in your own skin
It’s easy to wish you were this or that, we all do sometimes. But to consistently harbour such thoughts is toxic to your own well being. It’s just like when your immune system fights against you (i.e an autoimmune disorder). Make a decision to accept yourself and be comfortable in your own skin. Make the most of how you look and be at peace with yourself. Not only will you start to radiate from inside out (yes, confidence is quite attractive), but you will have more zeal for life, a better attitude and keep away depression from your life. Wishing you were someone else is a waste of time and energy; why not live your life and carry yourself in such a way that others begin to wish they were you???

Challenge Yourself
Newton’s first law of motion says that a mass/object remains the same until force is applied to it. Except you begin to challenge yourself, your life will remain the way it is and you will never achieve your dreams. Push yourself, challenge yourself daily. Accept new challenging tasks and responsibilities. Do something you’ve never done before. Whether or not you succeed, your life will not remain the same. You will have acquired fresh knowledge, and new skills/experience; you would have inevitably become a better version of you.

Try Something New
It’s only a mad man, they say, that keeps doing the same thing and expecting to get new results. Try something new this year (new does not mean something nasty or outrageous) – you never know where it will take you. Try doing your regular job/business in a new way. How about diversifying your business into new horizons? Trying something new may also include changing your dress sense and personal fashion style, you know.

Forgive Yourself
Forgive yourself! Forgive yourself!! Forgive yourself!!! Yes, you will get it wrong sometimes and feel like killing yourself for it. But just like you need to forgive others, you need to also forgive yourself when you make mistakes. Self-pity is not healthy. Learn to shake of the dust of mistakes as quick as possible, learn the lessons you can learn and move on.

Take the First Step

I wish I could shout it into your ear and mine because of how important this is. The journey of a thousand miles, they say, begins with one step. Find out the first step to achieving your dreams and take it. Don’t wait for the mountain to go to you, go to the mountain. Don’t wait for opportunities to find you, go out and look for them. No one achieves their dreams or goals by sitting at home 24/7 wishing for them, dreaming about them, or praying for them alone. You need to go out and get them. Moreover, God is willing and able to give you what you go after (See Joshua 1:3).

Can you think of any other gifts we need to give ourselves throughout the year?

Things that Make Her Lose Respect for You

Today’s blogpost is dedicated to the guys as an eye opener...

It has become a widely accepted fact that men desire to be respected and cannot tolerate continued disrespect, especially from the woman in their life. A lot of times, relationships start out sweet and exhilarating but eventually turn out sour with time for different reasons. One of these reasons is disrespect. I’m not here to justify sudden disrespect in a relationship but to show you the seemingly little things that trigger disrespect in relationships, especially when it’s coming from the woman to the man. You can call them the little triggers that lead to disrespect in a relationship/marriage. For every action, they say, there is a corresponding reaction. Instead of accusing the woman in your life for the sudden attitude of disrespect, you may need to take an x-ray look at yourself to see if you’re triggering disrespect from your woman via your actions.

#1 – You’re Lazy
By “lazy” here, I mean you lack a drive to do what is necessary to advance and improve your social and financial status. And it has nothing to do with being jobless or not having enough money. A woman may be willing to start a relationship with you when you’re jobless or earning peanuts in the hopes that you’ll keep going after better opportunities and someday soon, the story will change for the better. She will even go to the extent of supporting you financially. However, her respect for you will dwindle if you have traded job-hunting and advancement in your career/purpose for sleeping all day and living of her money/stagnation. It’s verrrrryyy difficult for a woman to respect and stay with a lazy man, except if she’s a cougar, of course.

#2 – You’re Inconsiderate
One of the things women love is the ability to be considerate. To be considerate means
- to be careful not to inconvenience others;
- to be thoughtful;
- to think about the rights, needs, and feelings of others;
- to respect other people’s feelings, circumstances etc.
When you’re inconsiderate, you’re the opposite of all these. People who are inconsiderate are brash, tactless, and insensitive in their dealings, so they end up leaving a trail of offences. No matter how much she loves you, if you make being inconsiderate a lifestyle, you will no longer get the best from the woman in your life and by the law of seed time and harvest, you will eventually start reaping disrespect and harshness from your once caring woman.

#3 – You’re Fond of Passing on Your Responsibilities to her
The woman who loves you will be more than willing to assist you and fill in for you with regards to handling your responsibility when the need arises. However, if you make a habit of passing on your responsibilities to her because you’re simply stingy or your continued laziness has made you permanently incapable of handling them, you will have a resentful woman on your hands. Also, when you insist on sharing ALL financial responsibilities with the woman in your life 50-50, you’re gradually eroding her respect for you. Nothing makes you blossom in your woman’s eyes like when you handle your responsibilities like man that you are.

#4 – You Have No Drive to Improve
A woman, by divine design, is designed to beautify, enhance, and transform everything she comes in contact with, and that includes you. Just as she is able to transform a plain house into a magnificent home, raw food stuff into a delicious meal, and sperm cells into a baby, God has placed her in your life to influence, encourage and spur you into become the best you could ever be. If you allow her, she will push you to greater heights in life and destiny. However, nothing is as frustrating to a woman as a man who doesn’t want to improve or rise up the ladder of success. And unfortunately, it erodes her respect for you and that’s when you begin to hear things like “your mates are doing this and that but you refuse to improve”.

#5 – Your Lack of Self-Control
Hmmmmmm!!! Do I need to explain this one? Okay. I will. Most women acknowledge that it is not easy for men to stay faithful these days; however, they also know it is not impossible, especially with God’s grace. Cheating on her once, is a mistake. Cheating on her twice may still be considered as a mistake. But cheating on her thrice makes it a habit, an addiction or a character flaw. Even with a thousand apologies, bribery gifts or i-love-yous, the respect and trust escapes. All she sees you as is a randy he-goat who will probably give her an STD or HIV soon. It’s hard for women to respect a man without self-control, even though they may tolerate him or stay with him because of the kids or the money.

To the men
What you sow, you shall reap. If you keep sowing these actions, you will continually reap disrespect from the woman in your life via words, actions, or outbursts. Even if she is the most patient woman on the earth, she will get to a breaking point eventually and you will not like the outcome. Tie up these loose ends and you won’t be leading her into the temptation to disrespect you.

To the single women
If you’re dating a man whom you’re having difficulties respecting due to these factors, find a suitable time and talk to him about it. Pray for him too, because the ability to change comes from God. Then give him the allowance of time to change/improve. However, if you’ve done both and he still isn’t changing, and you can’t see yourself marrying him like that, you may consider ending the relationship.

To the woman married to a man who she can no longer respect
You’re in for the long haul so there is no going back. I know it’s currently hard to respect him now, considering all that has happened. But there is grace (ability) available in God to honour and respect that man you married, even though he’s not worthy. That same grace is able to transform him into the man you will be proud of. Take your frustration to God in prayer. Tell him how hard it is to respect your husband and ask him for grace to do what is right (respect your husband). Pray that God will help your husband overcome his weaknesses.

You Are Perfect the Way You Are

Hello beautiful,
Today, we commence a new column tagged SUNDAY SPECIAL on the blog. It's a variety column packed with lots of stuff to make your Sunday as well as the rest of your week more blessed. Today's topic YOU'RE PERFECT JUST THE WAY YOU ARE is a short charge to refuel your soul for the week. Happy reading.

As long as the earth remains, people will have opinions about you. Some will think you’re too skinny or too fat, too short or too tall, too shy or too bold, too this or too that. Some will think you’re awesome and others will be like “Pwah! She no fine jor!” (meaning: she’s not beautiful). As a popular Nigerian pidgin idiom goes “na dem get their mouth” (meaning: they are entitled to their own opinion). You cannot continue perceiving yourself according to their definition of you. They did not create you and therefore have no right to define you. The one who created you says concerning you that you are “fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:14).

No matter how you look, God created you intentionally to suit his purpose. You don’t have to win awards as the finest or the most beautiful, all you need to do is accept yourself the way you are. Stop wishing you were taller, bustier, fairer etc. This line of thought drains your confidence and zeal for life and shifts your focus from fulfilling purpose to looking for the nearest remedy to what you perceive as faults. Come on! There are better things to spend your money and time on than constantly looking for something to enhance your physical looks.

Who Told You That?
Genesis 3:11 says “Who told you that you were naked?...” This was a question God asked Adam after he and his wife’s eyes were open to their inadequacies and they ran to hide themselves. Since the days of old, that ancient serpent the devil has been trying to get us into situations where we begin to think we’re inadequate and lose our God-confidence. But the same question God asked is what I’m asking you today - Who told you that you were too this or too that?

Reject every definition of you that is not from God and that does not align with God’s definition of you. Colossians 2:10 says “and you are complete in him… (Christ Jesus)”; you see, you’re perfect in Christ. I come against every negative label, every insultive, abusive, and negative word ever spoken against you to your hearing in the name of Jesus. You are not what they say: you are perfect in Christ. Believe God’s definition of you and it will set you free from negative name tags previously spoken against you in Jesus name.

Write down these words boldly on your bedroom wall, your screen saver or anywhere you can look at it daily – I’M NOT TOO THIS OR THAT, I’M PERFECT THE WAY I AM BECAUSE I’M PERFECT IN CHRIST. May the cobwebs of the past be removed from your perception of yourself that you might begin to see that you are indeed fearfully and wonderfully made in Jesus name. Have a fruitful, productive, positive surprise filled week.

Twists and Turns-Episode 5

Episode 5

Iye rubbed her face as she took a last glance at the mirror. She smiled in satisfaction at herself. Her long gown was just the perfect size for her. She didn't want to look too flashy neither did she want to look needy but she loved the simple but sweet look she had achieved. She turned to her friends. "How do I look?"
"Well I thought you wouldn't ask but trust me I would have commented. So tell us, who is this guy you are trying to look perfect for and hey! Is that a stint of blush on your cheek, wow! She has totally fallen for him." Tamuno said laughing. Iye shook her head and smiled. "Tamuno, one problem you have is that you assume a lot and most times your assumptions are wrong and usually they leave you in regrets."
"So who are you doing all these for?" She asked eagerly.
"Tamuno have you forgotten that she goes to see her daughter every last Tuesday of the month and today is her birthday so she needs to be happy and look good." Bukky explained and Tamuno's shoulders drooped.
"Oh my God! I am so sorry! Wow, happy birthday to her. Why didn't you tell me so I could get my gift ready huh! Well I only wish for you to have a man that will take care of you not that jerk. He does not deserve anything good in his life and...”  Tamuno!!! Thank you ehn, please stop the insults I beg. You know the only thing that is keeping me quiet is my child. I have prayed every prayer I know just to have my baby with me but I guess I have to make do with what I have" She said sadly.
"Oh common! Don't let that bother you okay. I know all will be well." Bukky said even though she was not sure about all being well.

Osas had walked out of her life like she was a piece of trash, he left her feeling she never meant anything to him. She felt like a fool and it hurt to see the man you love flaunting another girl in front of you. She heard of his new girl and couldn't believe he had gotten over her in such a short while. It turns out life has played a cruel joke on her but she was not laughing at all. She wished her friend could find a good man to marry her and help take back her daughter from that beast…

They waved Iye good bye until she was out if sight.
Iye stepped out of the taxi that drove her to the two bedroom flat. She walked to the balcony where she met his neighbor…" Good afternoon ma." Iye greeted the woman.
"Welcome my dear, you come see your princess abi?"
"Yes ma, today is her birthday. I didn't come last month and I waited for today to surprise her. Let me go and see my baby." She said excitedly walking towards the door.
"Em... My dear wait." The woman called and Iye stopped in her tracks.
"Yes ma, you called me. It's like they are not even at home now." She said eyeing the padlock on the door with a dampened spirit. She had hoped that she would meet them at home or at least, to meet her not him. They always had issues to discuss whenever she came around and she was not ready for that now. All she wanted was to have great fun with her daughter.
"Baba Angel been know say you dey come before?" The woman asked in pidgin English.
"Yes now, he knows this is my day of visitation." She said wondering why she should be questioned. "Hope all is well ma."                                                     " My dear, talk dey. Make you no just spoil body you hear." The woman explained.
"Ma please, don't be silent. If you have anything to say to me please do." She said with quivering lips. A sudden fear had come on her as she tried to imagine the worst and what will happen if she loses her daughter.
"OK then, the thing be say your oga don carry Angel travel."
Iye started to shake her head. "Angel! Travelled? To where? He never mentioned that they would be travelling and oh my God! "She scratched her head in confusion. " My baby had better be okay if not, he will see the worst part of me." She said shaking in fury. The older woman just looked at her as if she was merely watching a movie.
"Em...please ma, do you have an idea of where they went?" She asked after several attempts to call his number.
"Na one madam place o. E be like say Angel go dey live for there now. The madam get money well well and so them been dey find person wey go dey stay with them as e be say all them children no dey inside we country again." She explained feeling no remorse. She assumed Iye was pretending not to know the truth.
"So my daughter is another woman's house help eh?!"
"Hmm! Na the name wey I been hear be that. You sabi book well well, I even...Aunty you don dey go? Make you look road well o." The woman called after her but she was past caring what happens next as she walked off in anger like a lioness whose cubs had been stolen.
"My baby is now a house help? How could he do this to me? I thought he was capable of taking care of her? Who knows if those people will remember or care if it's her birthday?" She soliloquized.
"Hey lady, get off the road." Someone yelled but she didn't hear until the car screeched with a loud noise and stopped. Her body reacted with shock and she stood still until a passerby yanked her off the road.
"Iye are you okay?"
She turned towards to a familiar voice. "Mark!"

To be continued…

The story continues next Tuesday. Keep a date with us.
